In 1989, Jean-Luc Thunevin and his wife Murielle Andraud acquired a small plot of 0.6 hectares in the Saint-Emilion valley between Château Pavie-Macquin and Château La Clotte. Their first vintage was born in 1991. Sincethen, they have acquired other plots and properties, in Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes and Saint-Etienne de Lisse.
Today, Château Valandraud is considered by wine lovers and professionals, including Robert Parker, to be one of the very first growths of Bordeaux. The consecration came in 2012 when Château Valandraud was promoted to 1er cru classé of Saint-Emilion.
