HOW MUCH WINE DOES A JEROBOAM HOLD?

A Jeroboam is a large-size glass bottle that holds the equivalent of four 750ml bottles of Champagne or four bottle of wine, or 3 litres. Large-capacity bottles are slightly different for Bordeaux wines. If you are looking to purchase a 3-litre bottle of Bordeaux, you should get a Double-Magnum. In Bordeaux, a Jeroboam is a 5-litre bottle - quite a rare bottle size for Bordeaux wines, which are usually bottled in the 6-litre Imperial.

HOW MUCH DOES A JEROBOAM OF WINE COST?

A Jeroboam is a large-size bottle that is quite popular, partly because it comfortably serves 8 to 10 people over the course of a meal and also because the additional cost of manufacturing this size of bottle is still reasonable: it costs approximately 20 to 30 euros compared to the sale price of four 750ml bottles, or an additional cost per bottle of 5 to 7 euros.

WHERE DOES THE NAME JEROBOAM FOR A BOTTLE OF WINE COME FROM? 

This bottle size gets its name from Jeroboam I, king of Israel, who was crowned by the Ten Tribes of the North who had rebelled against Rehoboam. He died in 910 BC.
