In the north, the wet summer was saved by a sunny September and the wines of Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne are of good quality, rather supple and accessible, to be enjoyed relatively young. In the south, whether in France (Rhône Valley, Languedoc, Roussillon), Italy or Spain, the summer was hot and dry and the wines are very successful, cut for a long ageing.

You can also look at the excellent wines of Tuscany and Piedmont in Italy and Rioja in Spain, and the red wines of California and Oregon in the USA.
