TAHITI
A vineyard on the Rangiroa Atoll in Tahiti
Imagine a vineyard where the vine is planted a few meters from a transparent blue lagoon and where it gives 2 harvests per year..... After 5 years of research, Dominique Auroy created Domaine Ampélidacées in 1998: 7 hectares of vines from the Italia, Carignan and Muscat de Hamburg grape varieties that have adapted to this extreme environment, on the atoll of Rangiroa in the Tuamotu archipelago, 350 km from Papeete.
The oenologist Sébastien Thépénier is in charge of the vineyard: vines planted in "free-standing" without rootstock, low extraction rate at pressing, cold settling for 16 hours, fermentation with indigenous yeasts at low temperature, ageing for 3 to 4 months on fine lees. The Domaine is currently in the process of organic conversion.
Tahitian white and rosé wines, delicate and aromatic
The wines of Tahiti are delicate and aromatic white and rosé wines.
- The "Blanc de Corail" cuvée offers a lot of freshness with a coral minerality on notes of citrus and mango
- The "Clos du Récif" cuvée is a rare cuvée made from 100% Carignan, made only in certain years when the conditions are optimal, more complex and more persistent.
- The Rosé cuvée "Nacarat" offers mixed notes of red fruits and citrus fruits with this minerality characteristic of Tahitian wines.
- The "Monamona" cuvée is a sweet white wine with a lot of freshness, offering muscat, mineral and slightly smoky notes, with a nice balance in the mouth.
