BALTHAZAR

La Bouteille Dorée offers a selection of large bottles of wine and in particular in Balthazar format, a giant bottle size to be reserved for major events, exceptional receptions or to offer as a wine gift, to celebrate a housewarming, a wedding, a birthday or anniversary.

A Balthazar is an exceptionally large glass bottle containing the equivalent of sixteen 75 cl bottles of wine, i.e. a capacity of 1200 cl.

Balthazar was one of the three wise men who came to pay homage to the infant Jesus. In traditional iconography, it represents Africa. A second biblical Balthazar exists and may have given its name to the bottle. He was the last king of Babylon, who was killed when the city was captured by Cyrus in 539 BC.

La Bouteille Dorée specialises in the delivery of large formats of bottles. Check out this guide to find out more about our conditions for transporting and delivering Balthazars and other very large bottles of wine.
