Domaine Georges Roumier is named after Christophe Roumier's grandfather who is currently at the head of the estate. Trained by his father, Jean-Marie Roumier, and advised by outstanding winemakers such as Henry Jayer and Jacques d'Angerville, he was able to continue the work of his ancestors to not only maintain the quality of the Domaine's great wines of Chambolle-Musigny and Morey-Saint-Denis but also to elevate them to the rank of true references for Burgundy wines.
Like other great winemakers, Christophe Roumier seeks above all in his wines, to reveal the terroir of Chambolle Musigny or Morey-Saint-Denis, to obtain wines that are complex and intense but remain elegant and graceful.
Christophe Roumier, although he has stayed away from the certification procedures (Domaine Georges Roumier is not certified in organic farming), does not use any chemical inputs, fertilizers or pesticides, once flowering has begun, and lets the old vines of the Domaine, which are 40 years old on average, feed naturally. In the cellar, only the indigenous yeasts that have been present for several generations in the Domaine's winery in Chambolle-Musigny are used for vinification and the new cask only contributes 10% for the first growths and a maximum of 35% for the Musigny and Bonnes Mares grands crus.
