Alain Burguet is one of the most talented winemakers in Gevrey-Chambertin. He produced his first cuvée in 1974 and has continued to develop his wines ever since. He is now assisted by his sons, Jean-Luc and Eric.
The estate covers 8 hectares, most of which is in the Gevrey-Chambertin Village appellation. The excellent cuvée, "Mes favorites", is made from old vines from 25 different plots while the 1er cru "Les Champeaux" gives a very small cuvée from a plot of 18 ares. The other cuvées Chambolle-Musigny "Les Chardannes", Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "Les Rouges" and the Grand Cru Chambertin Clos de Bèze are made from grapes sourced externally.
The wines of Domaine Alain Burguet are pure and generous with perfectly ripe fruit thanks to some of the latest harvests in the Gevrey vineyard, limited yields and wonderful plots of old vines.
Since its inception, the estate has adopted the principles of organic farming and has been growing the vines biodynamically since 2011: no chemical fertilizers or herbicides, reduced use of sulphur and copper in spot treatments and in very low doses, natural yeast and no chemical inputs in the cellar except for sulphur in very limited dosages.
