Château Poujeaux is a Bordeaux wine estate in the Moulis-en-Médoc appellation whose vineyard, located on the superb gravel hilltops of Grand Poujeaux, extends over 70 hectares in a single block to the north-east of Moulis. It is composed of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 5% Petit-Verdot and Cabernet Franc.
The land of Poujeaux in Moulis-en-Médoc has been known since the Middle Ages as a dependent seigneury of Latour Saint Mambert, future Château Latour, 1er Grand Cru Classé in Pauillac. Its name appears for the first time in 1806 and Château Poujeaux became independent during the 19th century.
While the vineyard was still divided into three separate estates, the Theil family managed to make it a single entity at the end of the 19th century. In 1956, it was restored to its original composition on a 100-hectare property, including 70 hectares of vines. In 2008, the Cuvelier family, already owners of the famous Clos Fourtet, 1er Grand Cru Classé in Saint-Émilion, acquired the estate.
Today, Matthieu Cuvelier and Christophe Labenne manage Château Poujeaux together.
