Château Labégorce is a large wine estate in Margaux. It probably takes its name from an Abbot Gorce, an old name very common in Guyenne, and the residence is listed as early as 1332, under the name of Maison Noble de la Bégorce, as one of the most beautiful and best located in Margaux.
Classified as a cru bourgeois, Château Labégorce is one of the first crus bourgeois to be awarded abroad with a first Gold Medal obtained in Liège, Belgium, in 1905. In the best vintages, it is on a par with the Grands Crus Classés of the Médoc.
Château Labégorce was acquired in 1989 by Hubert Perrodo but his sudden death in 2006 brought his daughter Nathalie Perrodo-Samani to the head of the wine estates. The significant efforts she then undertook to modernize the estate with the help of oenologist Marjolaine Maurice-de-Coninck brought the wines to a superb level of quality.
