Domaine de Cheval des Andes was established in 1999 in the north of the Mendoza Valley, the cradle of great Argentine wines. It is the result of the pooling of the values and know-how of Château Cheval Blanc Saint-Emilion 1er Grand Cru Classé in France, and Terrazas de los Andes in Argentina.
The vineyard now covers 50 hectares, part of which is planted with Malbec vines over 80 years old, the emblematic grape variety of the Argentine vineyard. This part of the Mendoza Valley, Las Compuertas, Luján de Cuyo, at the foot of the Andes Mountains, is well known for its exceptional terroir. The Cheval des Andes vineyard is planted with the 5 grape varieties Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot, on different plots, chosen to allow each grape variety to express its potential to the best of its ability.
Cheval des Andes places respect for the environment at the heart of its know-how and defends a reasoned and responsible use of local natural resources: all-natural irrigation system, soil preservation and protection of the ecosystem of the estate's mountains.
