Clos Fourtet is an estate in Saint-Emilion that is one of the rare Premiers Grands Crus Classés of Saint-Émilion. It owes its name to the old small fort (Camp Fortet) that overlooks the historic town of Saint-Émilion.
Philippe Cuvelier acquired Clos Fourtet in 2001 and entrusted its management to his son Matthieu. In just a few years, they have invested heavily in modernizing the estate. Thus, the body of the castle, which remained uninhabited for a long time, has been completely restored.
The Chateau has a unique 13-hectare labyrinth of limestone quarries that stretches beneath the vines of Clos Fourtet, an ideal natural cellar where new wines are aged in barrels and older vintages are matured in the bottle.
