The history of Château L'Evangile, then Fazilleau, dates back to 1741 when it was owned by the Léglise family, and merges with the creation of the Pomerol vineyard in the mid-18th century. It definitively took the name of Château L'Evangile at the beginning of the 19th century and the vineyard then extended over about 13 hectares.
Paul Chaperon acquired Château L'Évangile in 1862 and ensured its international reputation. His heirs, the Ducasse family, remained owners of the château until 1990, when it was sold to the Barons de Rothschild Estates.
Château L'Evangile then saw the creation of a second wine, Blason de L'Evangile, while the selection of grapes was further refined for the production of the great wine, and the complete renovation of the vat room and cellars in 2004. Very good vintages followed one another with 1995, 1996, 2000 and the exceptional 2005, 2009 and 2010.
