Château La Conseillante is a prestigious 12-hectare Pomerol winery founded in the mid-18th century. The Château owes its name to the owner at the time, Catherine Conseillan. In 1871, the Nicolas family bought the estate and it is still at the helm today, with the fifth generation, Bertrand Nicolas and Jean-Valmy Nicolas.
The vineyard benefits from a unique terroir, predominantly clay and is planted for 80% Merlot which brings roundness, fullness and smoothness and 20% Cabernet Franc planted on gravel, which brings structure and freshness to the blend.
The unique style of Château La Conseillante's wines is immediately recognizable by a deep and brilliant ruby colour and a nose marked by notes of violet, liquorice, truffle and red berries. Harmony, finesse and complexity characterize the wines.
Since 2007, Château La Conseillante has also produced a second wine, "Duo de Conseillante", from younger vines.
