Charles Palmer is a Bordeaux wine estate in AOP Margaux whose wine is classified 3rd Grand Cru in the official classification of 1855. Château Palmer also produces a second wine of high quality, Alter Ego.
It was in 1814 that Lieutenant-Colonel Palmer acquired the Médoc wine estate of Marie Brunet de Ferrière, widow of Gascq, who had already been famous for more than a century for her high quality wines. He then undertook to develop it and gave it its name: Château Palmer. In 1853, the famous Pereire brothers, industrialists and bankers, took over the estate and built the current neo-Renaissance castle. It was in the 20th century that Château Palmer gained international recognition with successive owners, first the Mähler-Besse family and then the Sichel family, also at the head of a large trading house in Bordeaux.
In 2008, Château Palmer tried its hand at biodynamics and finally adopted it. With it, biodiversity is reborn on the estate with flocks of sheep, grasses, flowers and plants.
