Château Grand Corbin-Despagne is located in the north of the Saint-Emilion appellation, very close to Pomerol, on clay-sandy soils with iron grime and on superficial ancient sands on clays.
The vineyard is cultivated in Sustainable Agriculture as part of a sustainable economy "Terra Vitis" and has followed an organic farming approach since 2010, leading in 2014 to the first vintage of the Château certified in Organic Agriculture. No herbicides have ever been used at the estate and this environmental approach is also adopted on the other vineyards of the family: Château Reine Blanche in Saint-Emilion Grand Cru and Château Le Chemin in Pomerol are both certified organic and Château Ampélia in Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux is in organic conversion.
The history of the Despagne family in Saint-Emilion dates back to 1655 and the Château Grand Corbin-Despagne vineyard has been owned by the Despagne family for over 200 years. The Château was born at the end of the 19th century. François Despagne, the 7th generation of the family, is now at the head of the estate.
