Château Canon La Gaffelière is a wine estate in Saint-Emilion, which extends over nearly 20 hectares at the foot of the village, on the south coast, and whose wine is a 1er Grand Cru Classé. Since the 2014 vintage, the wines have been certified organic.
The clay-limestone and clay-sandy soils are renowned for offering very good filtration, which allows for a balanced grape variety between Merlot and Cabernet, which is rather rare in the appellation. On this terroir, the Cabernet grapes ripen easily and early to give the blend power and aromatic complexity, while the Merlot offers a lot of opulence. In the cellars, interventions are minimal and carried out according to the nature of each vintage.
Château Canon La Gaffelière has been owned by the Von Neipperg family since 1971 and is now headed by Stephan von Neipperg. The history of the family dates back to the 12th century in Germany, in Württemberg.
