Domaine de Villaine is located in Bouzeron south of Beaune in Burgundy, on limestone soils on hillsides between 270 and 350 metres above sea level, and produces wines in the Burgundy, Bouzeron, Mercurey, Rully and Santenay appellations.
A small, confidential appellation, the AOP Bouzeron is known for a very old grape variety from Burgundy, Aligoté, already cultivated by the monks of Cluny in the Middle Ages, and which flourishes perfectly on this terroir by giving wines that are not only dry, fruity, lively but also fine and round.
The Domaine de Villaine has been practicing organic farming since 1986 with a certification obtained in 1997 by Qualité France: at the estate, no pesticides, no herbicides and only vegetable and organic composts.
