M.A.N Family Wines is a family estate founded in 2001 in the Paarl district, north of Stellenbosch, in the South West of South Africa. The estate produces many grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinotage, Shiraz (Syrah), Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc.
The Agter-Paarl region, where the majority of the grapes originate, benefits from low rainfall and unique soils of decomposed granite. Despite this relative drought, 80% of the vineyards do not use an irrigation system due to the excellent water retention capacity of the soils, allowing the grapes to ripen perfectly.
The grapes come from the estate and local vineyards in the Paarl, Malmesbury, Durbanville and Agter-Paarl region, allof which are classified as sustainable and for the vast majority, 80%, do not use an irrigation system. They are all part of the associations of socially responsible producers committed to sustainable development (South African Integrated Production of Wine - IPW and South African Wine Industry Ethical Trade Association - WIETA) and are regularly evaluated by these organizations.
The name of the estate, M.A.N., is formed by the initials of the first names of the 3 female owners: Marie, Anette and Nicky. They are associated with their husbands and companions José Conde, Tyrrel Myburgh and Philip Myburgh.
