Located in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, the Okanagan Valley and British Columbia, Inniskillin produces extraordinary, artisanal icewine made with Cabernet Franc, Riesling and Vidal, the latter a hybrid of Ugni Blanc and Seibel.
The story of Inniskillin began in 1974 when Donald Ziraldo planted his first vines of Riesling, Chardonnay and Gamay. A year later, he founded Inniskillin Wines with Karl Kaiser, named after the main building of the estate. It was a farm that at the beginning of the 19th century, was owned by a certain Colonel Cooper who gave it the name of his Irish regiment, the Inniskilling Fusiliers.
Inniskillin is now world-renowned for its exceptional icewines. The winery produced its first icewine from the Vidal grape variety in 1984 with harvests carried out between December 2 and March 5.
