The Zlatan Otok winery is a vineyard located in Croatia, in the Dalmatia region, which extends over 75 hectares between 30 and 400 meters above sea level, with plots more than 30 years old and on slopes of up to 40 to 60% in altitude.
The estate was created in 1986 with vines in the south of the island of Hvar and in 1993 it definitively took the name of Zlatan Otok (Golden Island in Croatian). Today, the vineyard also extends to the mainland, near Makarska at the foot of Mount Biokovo, the highest point in Dalmatia, and further north in the Šibenik region.
The vineyard is developed according to the principles of organic farming, without chemical inputs, with manual harvesting and low yields.
The wines are mainly made from old indigenous grape varieties such as Plavac Mali or Kaštelanski Crljenak in red, Pošip and Bogdanuša in white, sometimes blended with international grape varieties (Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Chardonnay, Muscat).
