Anthony Thévenet is a young winemaker from Villé-Morgon in Beaujolais who in 2010 took over from his grandfather with a small but precious estate of vines from 40 to 150 years old. He has since expanded the vineyard with small plots on the famous Côte de Py in Morgon, Beaujolais-Villages and Chénas. He produced his first vintage in 2013.
Anthony Thévenet was trained alongside 2 of the greatest winemakers of Beaujolais, Jean-Marc Foillard and Georges Descombes, whose natural philosophy he now adopts: organic farming without herbicides or pesticides in the vines, exclusively manual tillage, adoption of biodynamic principles, manual harvesting and very rigorous sorting of the grapes.
The fermentations are natural, with indigenous yeasts and no pumping over. Carbonic macerations last between 10 and 25 days. The wines are aged in old barrels or concrete vats before being bottled without filtration or fining.
