Opus One is an exceptional Californian winery born more than 40 years ago from the passionate association of Baron Philippe de Rothschild of Château Mouton Rothschild in Pauillac, Bordeaux, and Robert Mondavi, pioneer and cult winemaker of Napa Valley.

The Opus One estate includes 4 plots of vines from five Bordeaux grape varieties (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit-Verdot).

To be able to produce wines of a quality that is now recognized as exceptional by wine lovers around the world, the work in the vineyard and in the cellar is irreproachable: tasting of the grapes on bunches, meticulous sorting of the berries, ageing for 18 months in new French oak barrels. The wine is kept for a further 15 months after the ageing is complete and is released^{on 1 October} each year. Thus, the N vintage will be available from October of the year N+3.
