In this very fine vintage, we regularly offer great wines from Bordeaux from 1947, Médoc, Pomerol and Saint-Emilion, and sweet sweet wines, Sauternes and natural sweet red wines from Roussillon, such as a 1947 Rivesaltes.
After the mythical 1945 vintage, the 1947 vintage offers lovers of old wines another exceptional year. In Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne, drought lasted throughout the summer and until the harvest. The grapes were particularly ripe and concentrated, giving very opulent wines with a very long ageing potential, both for the red wines and for the sweet white wines. In Champagne, the ripeness of the grapes was also exceptional, with the earliest harvest since 1893.
