The Domaine du Cros is a 30-hectare wine estate located in the heart of Aveyron, in Marcillac, which became an appellation d'origine contrôlée in 1990, on red clay hillsides, called rougiers, overlooked by limestone plateaus.
The Marcillac appellation covers only 180 hectares in total, one of the smallest in France, with only a dozen owners harvesters and bottlers. In addition to its terroir, one of the remarkable specificities of the appellation is its grape variety: Fer Servadou, also called "Mansois" in Aveyron, must make up at least 80% of the blend of red wines of the Marcillac PDO, possibly supplemented by Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot or Prunelard.
After four generations of winegrowers, in 1984 the estate still had only one hectare of vines and it was at this date that Philippe Teulier joined his parents at the estate. Under his leadership, the vineyard expanded with purchases of old vines and planting vines on the best slopes, with slopes that sometimes reached 65%. Philippe was joined in 2004 by Julien, who represents the new generation.
The Domaine du Cros attaches great importance to the work of the soil and the vines: terraces totally covered with grass, preservation of the biodiversity of flora and fauna, harvesting entirely by hand.
