Château Haut-Marbuzet is one of the oldest and most famous estates in Saint-Estèphe. Classified as an Exceptional Cru Bourgeois, its 76-hectare vineyard is located opposite the Gironde, on an exceptional terroir. The soils are composed of gravels of glacial origin (Günzian gravels) on a clay-limestone subsoil, perfectly drained, and which forces the vine to plunge its roots deep to feed.
The vineyard's grape varieties are 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. The high proportion of Merlot in the blend of Château Haut-Marbuzet's wines gives them a silky texture that is recognizable among all. They offer beautiful tannins and powerful aromas of red fruits and spices in their youth and are suitable for long ageing.
Created in the 18th century, the estate was acquired in 1952 by Henri Duboscq and has been ownedby the Duboscq family for more than 60 years.
