Château Lamothe Guignard is a Sauternes winery whose wine was awarded a second Cru Classé in 1855. The Domaine is located on one of the highest points in the commune of Sauternes, overlooking the Ciron valley.
Founded in the 16th century, it had a turbulent history, often changing owners, and it was not until 1981 that it regained its well-deserved stability with its acquisition by the two brothers Philippe and Jacques Guignard.
The vineyard of Château Lamothe Guignard comprises two different terroirs, the most important located on plateaus of gravelly soils, the other gently descending the clay-gravel slopes facing north and northwest. It is made up of 90% Sémillon, and 10% Sauvignon and Muscadelle.
Jacques and Philippe Guignard also produce a dry white Graves and a red Graves, whose vineyard plots are located 5 km away in the commune of Pujols sur Cérons.
