Domaine Biondi is an Italian winery that extends over about six hectares of vines in Sicily in Trecastagni, about twenty kilometers from Catania.
It produces very beautiful wines in limited volumes on the superb volcanic terroir of the Etna volcano, at an altitude of more than 600 meters, from indigenous Sicilian grape varieties such as Carricante, Catarrato, Minella, Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio. The microclimate of the slopes of Mount Etna, the mineral-rich volcanic soils, and the high temperature differences between day and night offer very favorable conditions for the production of great red and white wines.
The Biondi family has been living on the slopes of Mount Etna since the 17th century and began to run a vineyard around 1880. Between the two wars, Salvatore Biondi managed to raise the estate's wines to an unprecedented level of quality and obtained numerous awards in Italy and France, followed by a period of decline with the death of Salvatore in the 1950s to 1960s. Since 1999, Ciro Biondi, Salvatore's great-nephew, and his wife Stephanie have been at the helm of the estate.
