Château Malescot Saint-Exupéry is a wine estate in Bordeaux, 3rd Grand Cru Classé in the Margaux appellation, which extends over 28 hectares of vines.
The grape varieties include Cabernet Sauvignon for 50%, Merlot for 35%, Cabernet Franc for 10% and Petit Verdot for 5%. The estate is HVE (High Environmental Value) certified and is managed in sustainable agriculture.
Its history dates back to the end of the 17th century when Louise Escousses sold the property to Maître Simon Malescot, advisor to King Louis XIV to the Parliament of Bordeaux. In 1827, Count Jean-Baptiste de Saint-Exupéry, great-grandfather of the aviator and writer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, acquired the castle and added his surname to the name of the estate. Closer to home, in 1955, Paul and Roger Zuger bought the estate when the vineyard was only 7 hectares, and set about expanding and developing it. Today, the third generation of the family runs the estate, with Jean-Luc Zuger and his wife Catherine at the helm.
