The history of Bodegas Riojanas began in 1890 when the winery was founded under this name by the Artacho family, a family with deep winemaking traditions, and Rafael Carreras.
The estate extends over more than 200 hectares of the best vineyards of Cenicero, San Vicente de la Sonsierra and the surrounding villages, on clay-limestone soils from the Miocene.
Rioja's grape variety par excellence is Tempranillo, but Bodegas Riojanas also has some of the largest vineyards planted in Mazuelo and Graciano within the appellation, grape varieties that give the wines great personality.
The time spent in barrels and bottles determines the different categories of wines: Crianza, Reserva or Gran Reserva.
