Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion is a wine estate in Bordeaux, in the Pessac-Léognan appellation and Grand Cru Classé de Graves, which extends over ten hectares of gravelly, clayey and sandy soils, planted with Merlot (41%), Cabernet Franc (39%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (20%).
The Domaine des Carmes Haut-Brion benefits from a protected environment between ponds and groves, woods and vineyards, crossed by the tranquil bed of the Peugue.
The history of the estate is attested as early as 1584 when Jean de Pontac, lord of Haut-Brion, donated his vines to the Carmelite Order, which produced the wines for nearly two centuries. It was then confiscated during the Revolution and bought by Léon Colin in 1840 and maintained by his descendants, the Chantecaille family, who built the castle and laid out the park. The estate became the property of Patrice Pichet at the end of 2010.
