The Tacama vineyard is located in Peru in the ICA Valley, 300 km south of Lima, 50 km from the Pacific coast and 340 metres above sea level. It covers 250 hectares, 175 of which are vines.
The Tacama estate produces great white and red wines from French and international grape varieties, Tannat and Petit Verdot for the former, Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Viognier for the latter.
The history of the estate dates back to the 16th century with Francisco de Carabantes, making Tacama the oldest Peruvian winery. From 1920 onwards, the estate maintained a close collaboration with French oenologists such as Jean and Pascal Ribéreau Gayon, Émile Peynaud, Max Rives and Alain Carbonneau. Frédéric Thibaut is currently in charge of the estate, taking over from Robert Niederman after half a century at the helm, assisted by Pierre-Louis Teissedre in France.
