Kabola is a Croatian winery located in the Momjan and Buje region in the northwest of the Istrian Peninsula at 275 metres above sea level, overlooking the Alps and the Dolomites. The vineyards benefit from an excellent exposure with marl and clay soils and in places red earth containing iron oxide.
The grape varieties are mainly composed of autochthonous grape varieties such as Malvasia, Muscat and Teran, complemented by international grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Ageing is carried out in large containers, demi-muids and foudres and ageing in amphorae is used for Malvasia, allowing this grape variety to produce great wines.
Viticulture in this region of Croatia dates back four millennia. The history of the estate begins in 1891 and it has been owned by the Markezic family for several generations. .
