Bordeaux 1985

Bordeaux 1985

1985 was an exceptional vintage in Bordeaux for both red wines and dry and sweet white wines. A hot and dry summer with very sunny months of September and October allowed the harvest to be carried out with grapes at perfect ripeness.
The great wines of Médoc, Saint-Emilion and Pomerol are still very pleasant today, with good concentration.

Bourgogne 1985

Burgundy 1985

After several difficult years, the year 1985 came as a real relief for the Burgundian winegrowers. Admittedly, the winter and spring were quite harsh with a late flowering, but the summer was hot, especially August and September, months almost without rain. Only the vines of Aloxe-Corton were hit by hail in mid-August and the appellation produced a meagre harvest.
The whole of Burgundy, from Marsannay to Santenay, produced good wines, even more white than red.

Vins Rhône 1985

Rhône 1985

1985 was a great vintage for the wines of the Rhône and even more so in the northern Rhône Valley, from Côte-Rôtie to Cornas. A perfect flowering, a hot and dry summer and just the right amount of rain in August for a good ripening of the Syrah grapes.
In red, the wines of Côte-Rôtie in particular offer beautiful aromas of ripe fruit and gamey notes, and in white, Condrieu gives very aromatic wines. To the south, Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Gigondas offer great successes.

Champagne 1985

Champagne 1985

Magnificent champagnes were produced in 1985 although the weather conditions were difficult during the first 6 months, causing the loss of almost 10% of the vineyard. From August onwards, the heat set in and the autumn was splendid with a perfect ripening of the grapes. The beautiful Champagne cuvées of 1985 offer concentration and balance, with a well-controlled acidity and beautiful fruit aromas and a surprising freshness for champagnes over 30 years old.

Les autres réussites de 1985

Other successes of 1985

Among the great successes of the 1985 wines, we can note:
- Alsace wines in general and in particular Gewurztraminers and Pinot Gris in late harvest and selection of noble grains. The 1985 harvest yielded grapes of very high quality, with lower volumes than in previous years, and the sweet wines are particularly rich and opulent.
- Cabernet Sauvignon wines from California and great red wines from Italy, Piedmont and especially Tuscany, which had an exceptional vintage, with perfectly balanced and concentrated wines.
- The natural sweet red wines of Roussillon, the old Maury and Rivesaltes.
