Bordeaux 2005
In Bordeaux, the 2005 vintage is one of the best vintages of the last hundred years, thanks to exceptional climatic conditions, dry and hot weather, with fairly cool nights and days without extreme temperatures. These conditions allowed the grapes to ripen perfectly with superb concentration, acidity and powerful but silky, very fine tannins. On the other hand, yields have been rather low. Compared to other exceptional vintages, the 2005 vintage is more concentrated than 1982 and offers more freshness than 1990. He seems to have since been equalled or even surpassed by 2009, except perhaps at Saint-Emilion where 2005 remains in the lead. But what is fabulous about this vintage is that the quality is homogeneous: all the wines are excellent, left and right bank, from the "small châteaux" to the grands crus classés.
Burgundy 2005
A sumptuous vintage in Burgundy with ideal climatic conditions throughout the year, beautiful warm and sunny days, without excessive temperatures, and cool nights. The ripeness and health of the grapes were perfect and the rains at the end of August just allowed the vines to relieve a little. The red wines offer a lot of intensity, a nice balance and a long ageing potential. The white wines are also excellent, perhaps a little below due to a slight lack of acidity.
Rhône 2005
Another wine region blessed by the gods in 2005 with excellent climatic conditions. The great red wines, in the north as well as in the south, Côte-Rôtie, Cornas, Hermitage or Châteauneuf-du-Pape, are very well balanced with very beautiful fruit and offer a very long ageing potential. The yields were only a little tight and the wines are therefore quite rare.
Champagne 2005
2005 but may not be one of the best Champagne vintages but it is a good vintage, both for Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays, which allowed us to produce good Brut d'Blends and also great vintage champagnes.
Alsace 2005
Alsatian wines of great expression and a 2005 vintage with a very long ageing potential. The development of noble rot has allowed the production of magnificent Vendanges Tardives and Sélections de Grains Nobles.
