Château Margaux is one of the greatest wines in the world, classified as a Premier Grand Cru in 1855. Known since the 17th century, it is the result of an exceptional terroir and the passionate work of several generations of winegrowers.

Pavillon Rouge was also born at the beginning of the 17th century and is the second wine of Château Margaux. It offers a little less complexity than its illustrious predecessor but an aromatic palette and a balance on the palate very close to the first wine and its plots all participated in the blending of Château Margaux not long ago. Pavillon Rouge can be enjoyed a little earlier than Château Margaux but has superb ageing potential beyond 30 or 40 years, and this 1985 Pavillon Rouge is a good example of that.

Pavillon Rouge 1985 is a very fine wine with ripening and harvesting conditions that were very favourable, especially the exceptionally hot and dry months of September and October. An Indian summer that has given rise to a wine that is now elegant, balanced, fleshy, complex, with a long finish.
