Château Chasse-Spleen 1978 is an exceptional Cru Bourgeois from the Moulis-en-Médoc appellation that often rivals many of the Médoc's Grands Crus Classés.

The 1978 vintage is now sought after by lovers of old Bordeaux wines because of its good resistance over time, with great Médoc wines that have survived well over the last 40 years.

Born in 1720 from the mind of Monsieur Gressier, a great bourgeois of Bordeaux, on the hamlet overlooking the gravelly hilltops of Grand Poujeaux, the estate would bear the name of Château Poujeaux-Castaing a hundred years later and then became Chasse-Spleen on the occasion of the Universal Exhibition in London in 1863, in memory of Lord Byron who had complimented the wine during one of his visits as having no equal in chasing away spleen. Charles Baudelaire and Lord Byron were prestigious ambassadors of Château Chasse-Spleen. Find the wines of Château Chasse-Spleen currently on sale at La Bouteille Dorée.
