Domaine Chanson Pernand Vergelesses Les Vergelesses 1er Cru Red 2018
This Pernand-Vergelesses Les Vergelesses 1er Cru Rouge 2018 comes from the vines of Domaine Chanson south of the Corton hill. The estate owns 5.4 hectares in "les Vergelesses", the most famous Premier Cru of the appellation and which gave its name to the village of Pernand. The very heavy soil, stony at the top of the plot and more clayey at the bottom of the plot, gives a complex and powerful wine.
With great aromatic finesse with an intense nose, with aromas of blackcurrant and cherry liqueur and chocolate, minty and spicy notes, it offers on the palate a beautiful dense, taut and unctuous substance, with a precise texture and supple and spicy tannins, and a long finish on a fine mineral note.
The 2018 vintage benefited from good climatic conditions with lasting heat from June onwards and a few heat waves that the clay soils made it possible to compensate for in many plots. The harvest took place in good conditions and the grapes were harvested at perfect maturity and in a very good state of health.
It can be eaten now, but its great ageing potential allows it to be stored until 2030-2032.
