There are no superlatives to describe this wine, which has been acclaimed for more than 250 years and perhaps even more since Alain Vauthier took the helm in the late 90s.

Château Ausone 2006 offers a beautiful, intense ruby colour and great finesse on the nose with notes of red fruits and delicate empyreumatic notes. The palate is pure and elegant with fine, silky tannins and a very nice length. Coming from vines that are more than 50 years old, it offers a potential for several decades to age and will reach maturity from 2020.

A legend of Saint-Emilion, Château Ausone is one of four estates to have been classified as a Premier Grand Cru Classé A in the last classification of Saint-Emilion wines of 2012. It owes its name to Ausonius or Decimus Magnus Ausonius, a poet, professor and political advisor to the Late Roman Empire in the 4th century BC.
