It was in 1850 that Jean-Baptiste Laroze created the wine estate in Gevrey-Chambertin. In 1919, his granddaughter, Suzanne, married Alexandre Drouhin, owner of Chambolle-Musigny, to give birth to Domaine Drouhin-Laroze. The Domaine is currently managed by Philippe and Christine Drouhin, assisted by Caroline and Nicolas, their children.
The estate is divided into 46% in the Grand Cru appellation (Musigny, Chambertin Clos de Bèze, Clos de Vougeot, Bonnes Mares, Latricères Chambertin and Chapelle Chambertin), 14% in the Premier Cru appellation (Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaut Saint-Jacques, Au Closeau, Craipillot and Clos Prieur) and 40% in the Village appellation (Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny and Morey-Saint-Denis).
