The Nicolas Maillart Champagne House is located in Ecueil and the vineyard extends only over plots of Premier Cru and Grand Cru of the Montagne de Reims, 75% Pinot Noir and 25% Chardonnay. In particular, the estate has a superb plot of Pinot Noir vines planted in 1973, in massal selection without rootstock, a witness to the vineyard as it was before the arrival of Philloxera.
The family tradition dates back to the 16th century, but it was really from 1753 that Nicolas Maillart's ancestors began to work the vines in Chamery, a village next to Ecueil. Nicolas Maillart represents the 9th generation and took over the reins of the estate in 2003 after studying engineering and oenology.
The estate is strongly committed to an environmental approach. Since 2009, almost all electricity consumption has been provided by photovoltaic panels.
