Domaine Josmeyer is located in Alsace, in Wintzenheim, not far from Colmar and extends over 28 hectares on an exceptional terroir where rainfall is one of the lowest in France.
Domaine Josmeyer's vineyard is divided between the different Alsatian grape varieties as follows: Riesling 28%, Pinot Blanc & Auxerrois 24%, Pinot Gris 21%, Gewurztraminer 19% and 10% for the other grape varieties Sylvaner, Muscat and Pinot Noir.
Domaine Josmeyer is truly a family affair. It was founded in 1854 by Aloyse Meyer and took its current name in 1963 when Hubert Meyer took over from his father Joseph and decided to associate the first three letters of his father's first name with the family name: Josmeyer.
It was his eldest son Jean who modernised the estate, both in terms of cultivation and winemaking and image. In 1987, he combined works by contemporary artists with wine labels with the Artiste range and in 2000, decided to convert the entire vineyard to organic and biodynamic cultivation.
Recently passed away in 2016, it is the youngest of his daughters, Céline, who has taken over the management of the estate while the youngest, Isabelle, a graduate in viticulture and oenology, is in charge of the vinification and the elaboration of the cuvées.
