This 2019 Pinot Gris cuvée from Domaine Josmeyer is called Fromenteau from the name that this grape variety bore in Ile de France when the vines surrounded Paris, several centuries ago. Its name evokes wheat because of its very light white color.
It offers an open nose of dried fruits, hazelnuts and fresh nuts and the palate offers a nice balance with a long and salivating finish. It will be an ideal accompaniment to mushrooms and pulses, risotto, pâtés and terrines, small game birds, poultry or veal livers in dumplings or pan-fried.
The grapes come from plots on the Herrenweg in Turckheim, located on the Fecht dejection cone, soils composed of sand, alluvium, small stones and pebbles.
