The history of Maison Darroze dates back to the post-war period when Jean Darroze, an emblematic chef of Landes gastronomy based in Villeneuve-de-Marsan, began to introduce his son Francis to his culinary art, to the great wines and eaux-de-vie of the south-west, in particular Armagnac.
From the mid-fifties, Francis discovered Bas-Armagnac, from which he gradually unearthed, by visiting hundreds of small estates, the most beautiful treasures of this fabulous terroir. He relentlessly pursued his research over the next 2 decades and decided in the early seventies to build a cellar specifically dedicated to ageing.
His son Marc, after training as an oenologist, took over in 1996 and first travelled through Armagnac with his father and then took the reins of Maison Darroze on his own. He passionately continues the work of Armagnac discoverers undertaken by his grandfather and his father before him.
