Domaine du Pré Semelé is a family-run wine estate in the Loire Valley in the Sancerre appellation, which extends over 20 hectares located in Maimbray. The two brothers Julien and Clément Raimbault represent the 4th generation of the family.
On clay-limestone soils mainly composed of Kimmeridgian marl for 70% and Portlandian limestone (Caillottes) for 30%, the Domaine du Pré Semelé cultivates its vines in a very reasoned way. A large part of the work is done by hand, including the harvest for the reds and some whites (Zeste and Chasseignes cuvées).
The Pinot Noir vines are relatively old, 40 years old on average, and planted on ferruginous clay-limestone soils for 60%, providing tannic power and freshness, and on clayey marl for 40%, bringing roundness and fruit. Yields are controlled, averaging 50 hl/ha for the "Domaine" cuvée and 35 hl/ha for the "Camille" cuvée.
The Sauvignon vines are aged from 5 to 50 years, the oldest being reserved for the production of the "Les Chasseignes" and "Zeste" cuvées. They are planted on the clay-limestone slopes of Maimbray, 70% of which are white soil for power, fat and minerality and 30% of padded soils for fruit and finesse.
