Château La Dominique is a grand cru classé of Saint-Emilion, located a stone's throw from the sublime Château Cheval Blanc, on the edge of the Pomerol appellation where Château l'Evangile and Château La Conseillante are located. Professor Henri Enjalbert, who has studied the soils and subsoils of the region so much, compares those of Dominica to the terroir of Château Cheval Blanc and Château Figeac, no less.
Dating back to the 18th century, it has been owned by the industrialist Clément Fayat since 1969, who has made considerable investments in the vineyard as well as in the cellars.
Legend has it that the name, Dominica, comes from a wealthy merchant who owned the place at the end of the 18th century and who named this place in memory of the eponymous island in the Caribbean.
