The Benanti family settled in Sicily on the slopes of Mount Etna in 1734. A pioneer of modern viticulture in the region, Giuseppe Benanti began producing local wines at the end of the nineteenth century. Since then, several generations of the family have succeeded each other, constantly seeking to improve the wines, highlighting the exceptional terroirs and the superb indigenous grape varieties of Etna.
Antonio and Salvino Benanti are now at the helm of the estate. Thanks to the regular acquisition of plots, the Estate has managed to structure the planting areas on all the slopes of Mount Etna. In 2010, after 5 years of experimentation in the vineyards and in the cellar, Domaine Benanti succeeded in isolating and selecting several types of indigenous yeasts used for the vinification of its wines.
