The Clos Centeilles is a wine estate in the Languedoc that extends over 20 hectares, including 12 hectares of vines from 20 to 110 years old, surrounded by low walls, making the estate a true Clos. On the foothills of the Montagne Noire, in the heart of the Minervois and more precisely of the La Livinière cru, the siliceous sandstone soils with outcropping rock are arranged in a south-facing terrace.
The wines are produced in IGP Côtes du Brian to allow the blending of rare grape varieties. In addition to the common Languedoc grape varieties, Cinsault, Mourvèdre, Syrah, Grenache Noir et Blanc, Clairette and Carignan, Clos Centeilles has been reintroducing rare and forgotten grape varieties for more than thirty years, such as Riveyrenc (or Ribeyrenc), Œillade, Picardan, Picpoul Noir et Gris, Morrastel Noir à jus blanc, Arraignan. The Terret Gris or the Aramon Gris. In other words, 23 different grape varieties planted on a small vineyard of just over ten hectares on a single terroir.
The principles of the estate are not very interventionist, both in the vineyard with manual harvesting and the constant development of biodiversity and in the cellar where the grapes are only worked in vats to release the depth and purity of the fruit.
Since 1990, the Clos has been owned by the family and Patricia Boyer-Domergue took over the reins alone in 2006. She was joined in 2016 by her daughter Cécile Domergue and there are now two generations of committed winemakers who support each other at the estate.
