Domaine Les Hautes Noëlles is a wine estate in the Loire Valley located in Saint Léger-Les-Vignes, about fifteen kilometres south-west of Nantes, on the shores of Lake Grandlieu. It extends over 26 hectares of vines cultivated in organic farming, in the Muscadet, Gros Plant and Vin de France appellations.
All white wines are certified by Ecocert and the organic conversion process for red wines started in 2020. The estate practices polyculture and is working to revive other grape varieties such as Floréal, Grolleau Gris and Grolleau Noir, or Egiodola.
The different Muscadet cuvées are vinified without any intervention on the grapes and fermentation is carried out in underground vats. The wine is aged on lees throughout the winter and early spring, to bring roundness and volume to the mouth. Hygiene in the cellar is irreproachable to greatly reduce or even eliminate the use of added sulphites and the dosages are much lower than those allowed in conventional or even organic winemaking.
The vines have been attested Saint Léger-Les-Vignes since the end of the 11th century, and the wines were then supplied to the Bishop of Nantes for the Abbey of Notre-Dame-de-Buzay, founded by Bernard of Clairvaux, and the Abbey of Villeneuve. The current property dates back to 1930 and was acquired in 2010 by Jean-Pierre Guédon and then in 2020 by Juliane Motte and Jean-Gabriel Tridon. As a member of the "Les Vignes de Nantes" association, Domaine Les Hautes Noëlles participates with several other estates in developing the image of Muscadet wines.
