Located 4 km from Beaune, the vineyard covers 13.7 hectares divided equally between the three communes of Savigny-Lès-Beaune, Pernand-Vergelesses and Aloxe-Corton. Owned by the same family since 1834, Domaine Chandon de Briailles belongs to the Count and Countess Aymard-Claude de Nicolay. Today, it is their children François and Claude who are together at the head of the Domaine with perfect complementarity.
Claude de Nicolay joined the Domaine in 1991 with a degree in oenology in her pocket and after numerous internships abroad, she created her own oenology laboratory in order to ensure the analytical monitoring of the wines. François de Nicolay joined the estate in 2001 after a rich career of diverse experiences in winemaking and marketing of wines in France and abroad (Spain, USA, Hong Kong). He introduced biodynamics to the Domaine in 2005.
The management of the team of 6 people, that of the vines and part of the marketing is ensured by François while the analysis of the monitoring of the wines in the cellar is carried out by Claude who also manages some export customers. A duo united by family transmission and a passion for the great wines of Burgundy.
Claude and François de Nicolay are ardent defenders of natural viticulture and have decided to switch the entire estate to biodynamic cultivation in one go from the 2008 vintage.
