A beautiful white wine from Alsace from Domaine Schieferkopf, this Riesling cuvée Via Saint-Jacques 2012 comes from plots on steep slopes in the communes of Reichsfeld and Bernardvillé, and owes its name to the proximity of one of the Camino de Santiago. The vines are planted on blue schist soils unique in Alsace dating back to the Precambrian, more than 500 million years ago.
The great Riesling wines require several years to fully express themselves and this 2012 vintage is perfectly ripe: it offers a complex nose with aromas of citrus, spices and pineapple and on the palate, it expresses itself with a very nice balance, frank acidity, roundness and minerality, with a persistent finish on saline and aromatic notes.
